LOCALLY PRODUCED: MOTHER is a Los Angeles-based denim brand that proudly partners with local businesses and manufacturers in the production of all denim styles, reflecting its commitment to local craftsmanship and third-party audited ethical labor practices. While 95% of their overall manufacturing is done in Los Angeles, 100% of their denim products are made within a 14-mile radius from their design studio. This level of local production reduces the company’s carbon footprint by limiting freight transport and shipping.
UPCYCLING: With the introduction of the 60% MOTHERcollection, MOTHER has taken steps toward reducing its carbon footprint by utilizing existing product overages, damages and scraps blended with rag house finds and items otherwise intended for landfills. Also, after extensive research on the environmental impact of packaging materials, this collection will be packaged in biodegradable bags that are made from 100% recycled LDPE (low-density polyethylene). The bags can be reused, recycled at end-of-life, and are biodegradable should they end up in a landfill.
CHARITABLE COLLABORATIONS: MOTHER believes in being part of something greater than itself and strives to make a difference through its collaborations. The brand’s motto “MOTHER Loves You” is used to communicate acceptance, unity and equality. MOTHER has a commitment to support causes, charities and non-profit organizations that are driving positive change in the world. Most recently, MOTHER collaborated with I AM A VOTER. and The Loveland Foundation to produce exclusive products and capsule collections that amplified awareness and donated a portion of the proceeds to benefit their respective causes. Additional partnerships have included GLAAD, Everytown, No Kid Hungry, Surfrider, Kind Campaign, mothers2mothers, Doctors Without Borders and the Royal Hospital for Women.
